Character NAME: crystalia amaquelin | "crystal"
Canon & MEDIUM: marvel 616 | comics
Canon PULL-POINT: post "war of kings"
Character AGE: ~30. comics aging is open to interpretation, but word of god says the fantastic four have been around for 13 years, and crystal was about 16 or 17 when she met them initially.
Character ABILITIES:
as a member of the inhuman race, crystal has an enhanced metabolism that awards her enhanced speed, endurance, strength and reflexes. at her best, she is slightly stronger that the most able-bodied humans such as captain america. crystal was also exposed to the terrigan mists when she was a child, which helped her develop elemental powers. crystal has the ability to manipulate the four classical elements—air, water, fire, and earth. she does this on an atomic level, causing spontaneous ignition, colliding hydrogen and oxygen to create water, creating tremors up to 6.7 on the richter scale, and controlling small tornados. the usual limits of her abilities are that she cannot manipulate more than 2000 cubic feet of a given element at once, and that she must be in close proximity to that which she is manipulating. she also cannot maintain an elemental phenomenon for more than an hour without considerable mental and physical strain.
Character HISTORY: crystal @ the marvel wiki & crystal @ wikipedia
Character PERSONALITY:
Crystal, in her first introductions, was sheltered, naïve, and passionate. Curious and mercurial, she had decided that she wanted to experience the human world even though her family didn’t approve. And so, without really considering the consequences, she acted on impulse. And the result was that she fell in love, not just with a young man, but also with a planet and a people. Crystal, more than any other Inhuman, feels a tie to earth. This is a passion which splits her loyalties; while she will always be an Inhuman first, she has spent more time on earth than any other of her kind. She has been a member of both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and enjoys the hero’s life. She genuinely likes helping people and being useful, and at times it seems she can do more for humanity than for the Inhumans. But, inevitably, her family comes first.
Crystalia Amaquelin is, first and foremost, a princess. She has a deeply ingrained sense of loyalty and propriety. While she is fun-loving and coy at times, she is ultimately a woman driven by her duty. It is this sense of duty which drives her to abandon earth whenever she feels her family needs her, and most recently it drove her to abandon her husband to avoid an intergalactic war. Crystal is deeply passionate, deeply loving, and deeply emotional, but all of that falls by the wayside when she is presented with a duty she cannot forsake. She may not have Black Bolt’s unfailing regality or her sister’s cunning and acumen when it comes to ruling, but Crystal is always a royal who cares about her people. She will put their needs before her own, even though it isn’t in her nature to be self-sacrificing. When it comes to prioritizing, however, the Inhumans come before her personal happiness.
In day-to-day dealings, Crystal is always a strong personality. She has a temper which she usually manages to keep in check, but when it boils to the surface it can be severe. However, her love, when earned, is just as strong as her anger. She doesn’t feel anything by halves; everything she does she does with her whole heart. However, this also means that she feels slights more than she should and can be deeply hurt by betrayal or insult. The most key example of this is in her relationship with Pietro. When she felt that he no longer prioritized her, it drove her to be vengeful and lonely. She had an affair partly to get back at him for ignoring her and partly to feel valued. She has a very high opinion of herself and wants others to feel the same. It is hard to earn Crystal’s respect, but it is worth the effort. But when her opinions turn it is hard to turn them back.
Crystal has grown up a lot, maturing a great deal from the young girl who ran away to earth to live with the Fantastic Four. She has been married twice, become a mother, experienced the weight of rule and responsibility. She knows what it is to make hard decisions, and most parts of her wide-eyed innocence have been lost to the years. However, she’s still a woman who values fun and excitement. Now, however, her driving motivators are keeping her people safe, raising her daughter, and improving the universe’s view of the Inhumans. The Kree very quickly came to know her as “the people’s princess,” and that is because she honestly does put the people first. She has an innate wish to help people, and also to take care of them.
She isn’t known for being a particularly adept warrior, but Crystal is a fighter. She’s been a hero, she’s been a princess, she’s been an ambassador, and all of that has taught her that there are many ways to win a fight. Some of this comes out in the unique ways she utilizes her powers, others in her eloquence and ability to negotiate. But she won’t turn down a fight when one comes to her, and she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Crystal, though she has been looked after and taken care of by others for much of her life, wants nothing more than to look after and take care of other people. Be it her daughter, her lovers, her family or her people, she will always fight to make sure those she considers dear are safe and happy. And that, before anything else, is what she considers her duty.

» SAMPLES
First PERSON:
( crystal is glaring down at the device with a mixture of bemusement and irritation. she has a hand on her hip and her lips are pursed just before she starts speaking. )
It has come to my attention that the housing provided to use isn’t entirely private. While that may suit... most of you… it is hardly acceptable to me. I have put up with the indignity of having been brought here against my will, even decided to help this cause… but some things are just too much.
( she blows out her breath all at once, and a gust of wind fluffs her hair around her face. )
I trust there’s a way to fix it. And if there isn’t, roommates, you should find one. Otherwise, I can’t imagine where you’ll be sleeping.
Third PERSON:
She had grown used to the rain, after some time. At first there was a constant need to manipulate, to get it off her face and out of her way. Now, however, she accepted it as she had come to accept this place; something she simply had to deal with. In a way, it fit. She felt the ache of separation from Atilan, from Luna, and from her people, and so it was only right that the world would reflect this. Crystal often fancied that she wasn’t self-centered, but she was also often wrong. That the world would reflect her mood seemed a natural thought.
Today, however, she wasn’t dwelling on that. She had made it her task to know this place inside and out, and that meant seeing as much of it for herself as she could. Through the thick soles of her shoes, she could feel the earth moving beneath her. She didn’t like what she experienced, however. Oftentimes, she found herself on the shore, staring at the debris with distaste. One last stronghold for these people, and this was how they let it be treated?
Crystal loved beaches. They were a singular place where all four elements met; earth and water and wind, and fire in the form of the sun. Here, however, there was just the rain and debris. Today, she found herself a hillside overlooking the shore, anyway. Rain fell on her gently, dampening her hair as she pulled her knees up to her chest. She wondered almost daily about Luna, but today, suddenly, Ronan came to her mind. Her new... husband. Should she have been thinking of him? They’d hardly had time to be acquainted before she was brought here.
And yet… she did think of him. She’d taken him to a beach to recover, and he’d fit naturally into her favorite type of place. It was an unwelcome thought, and Crystal flicked it and the rain away as she continued to watch the broken shoreline.
